Lisa joined Southern First in 2005 and works in our Pulse Center. She handles online accounts, mobile deposits, and handles questions related to debit cards. Lisa was born in Simpsonville, SC and has lived in the area her whole life. When asked to describe Southern First in three words, she said, “family, friends, and fellowship.” When Lisa isn’t working, she loves to read, travel and go shopping. She is also a Girl Scout Trooper Leader for her daughter’s troop and has been for the past 9 years. Lisa also loves to cheer on her favorite sports teams: The Golden State Warriors, Carolina Panthers, and the UNC Tarheels basketball team.
Stephen joined Southern First in 2017 and he serves as the bank’s Teller Administrative Specialist which means he provides helpdesk and operational support to all market tellers. Stephen jokingly calls himself the “Teller 911 Helpdesk.” He was born in Spartanburg, SC and has lived in the area his entire life. The three words that come to his mind when he is asked to describe Southern First are comforting, supportive, and warm. Stephen says, “the people I work with truly make me want to come to work each and every day.” When he isn’t working, he enjoys cooking and baking.
Michelle was born in Charleston, SC and moved to Columbia, SC in 2005. She works in our Columbia office and serves at the Secondary Markets Manager for the Mortgage Department at Southern First Bank. Michelle joined the team in September 2015. When Michelle was asked what she loves about working at Southern First, she said the unique culture, client first service, and our passion for winning. She says her greatest achievement thus far in life is becoming a mother and when she’s not working she loves spending time with her family, and cheering on the USC Gamecocks.
Deidre works in our Columbia office as a mortgage loan processor. She has lived in Columbia since 1994 and joined Southern First in April 2016. When asked what her favorite part about working at Southern First, she said “it’s nice to work for a company who values it’s team members. The family culture and core values at Southern First are phenomenal.” Since Deidre says she values kindness, trustworthiness, and integrity the most, she feels Southern First is the perfect fit for her. When Deidre is not at the office, she enjoys attending bluegrass festivals with her husband. She also loves photography, dancing, and competing with her clogging team.
Tyler joined the Charleston team in June 2017. He serves the Charleston market as a commercial banker and team leader, working with clients to deliver exceptional value to their business and personal lives. Tyler’s favorite part about working at Southern First is the culture and comradery. He said, “everyone is always willing to lend a hand and everyone roots for each other to succeed.” Tyler said three words that immediately come to mind when describing Southern First are, “welcoming, community, and driven.” Tyler was born in Charleston and says his greatest achievement is marrying his wife, Catherine. When he’s not working, he loves to travel, play golf, and watch UGA play football.
Terry joined Southern First in 2004 and works in Greenville, SC at the headquarters building. She was born in Germany but has lived in Greenville, SC since 1979. Terry is responsible for overseeing the Deposit Operations area which includes the movement of money in and out of the bank, and keeping track of all things related to payments. When asked to describe Southern First in three words, she said, “passion, professionalism, and service.” Terry went on to say, “although we are a community bank, we have the ability to compete with much larger financial intuitions because of our dedicated team and excellent technology.” When Terry isn’t working, she loves to cheer loudly for her South Carolina Gamecocks. She also loves to read, hike, make jewelry, and work at a pet rescue facility.
Michael has been with Southern First since November 2013. He serves as a commercial banker and team leader in the Columbia market, where he was born and raised. He was approached by the CEO and President of the Bank regarding joining Southern First after they met each other on a trip to Washington DC with the American Bankers Association (ABA). Michael’s favorite thing about working here is “the people and the culture.” He went on to say, “We are empowered to go out and make a difference for our clients and the community!” When Michael isn’t cheering on Wofford College or the University of South Carolina, he loves to hunt waterfowl and turkey, spend time with his family, and watch football.
Michael is from Charleston, SC and joined our company in 2017. He serves as a retail float providing client specialist support and teller support at our various offices and markets. Michael heard about the position from another associate who works at the bank. His favorite part about working at Southern First is the, “fun, family atmosphere.” In fact when asked what three words come to mind when describing Southern First, he said, “small, happy, family.” When Michael isn’t working, he loves to cook and entertain at his house. He also loves cheering for the USC Gamecocks and Carolina Panthers.
Michelle has been working at Southern First since February 2016. She was born in New York and has lived in Greenville since 2006. Michelle is a loan operations associate who is in charge of the payoff department. She found the position at Southern First online and knew it was “the place” for her because of the company vision. When asked about her favorite part of her job, she said, “the true feeling of teamwork, family, and the way we are all valued. At Southern First you truly feel important and recognized. Our staff meetings, wellness programs and Ping Pong table make work fun. I look forward to going to work every morning.” When Michelle isn’t working, she loves to write, go to the gym, run, eat, and she loves movie time with her husband and kids. Michelle also loves sports and loves pulling for the NY Yankees and the Clemson Tigers.
Nick has been working at the bank since April 2017 as an IT support specialist helping our associates with their computer needs. He was born in Montgomery, Alabama and relocated to Greenville five months ago. Nick said his favorite part about working at Southern First is “the culture and the people.” In addition, Nick said, “A lot of places try to hook you in with an elaborate façade that quickly fades away within weeks. Southern First is the real deal. Everybody here is committed to client first service and team building.” When Nick is not working, he loves spending time with his girlfriend and their “mini-zoo” which consists of 4 dogs and 2 cats - his girlfriend is a vet! Nick also loves visiting breweries, hiking, gaming/anything technology related, and cheering loudly for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Octavia joined Southern First in May 2017 and works as a Teller Leader in one of our Greenville offices. She was born in Tacoma, Washington and has lived in Greenville for two years. Her favorite part about working at Southern First is, "meeting clients and being able to put a smile on their face." Some of Octavia's hobbies include spending quality time with her husband and daughter, as well as real estate investments. One day she would like to purchase houses and flip them for resale or rent them out. When asked what three words come to mind to describe Southern First, she said, "unique, caring, and family oriented."
